IVPN: what it is and how to use it

IVPN is a VPN based in Gibraltar that, like Mullvad, lets you open an account without an email. It is a second option to compare against or to fall back on if a provider is unavailable, accepting card, PayPal, Bitcoin, Monero and cash.

How do you use IVPN?

  1. Type ivpn.net straight into the address bar, not through ads, and check the domain before downloading or paying.
  2. Read the August 2026 notice on the incident at the Bitcoin payment server, published on the site, before deciding.
  3. Pick a plan: since May 2026 there are three tiers (Standard, Plus and Pro Suite); Standard includes multihop and a limit of 5 devices.
  4. Create the account without an email and prefer paying with Monero, cash or Bitcoin rather than card or PayPal, which leave a financial trail with third parties.
  5. Install the app from the official site, connect, and confirm with an IP, DNS and WebRTC leak test.

What are the limits and cautions?

  • In August 2026 IVPN disclosed an incident at its Bitcoin payment server: the attacker took operating funds from the company, and IVPN says no customer data was accessed. Read the original notice.
  • The book warns that IVPN and Proton VPN are not equivalent to Mullvad on every point, and that prices and payment methods change; review them before buying.
  • Like any VPN, it shifts trust from your ISP to the provider and does not hide who you are where you identify yourself.
