SimpleLogin: what it is and how to use it
SimpleLogin is an open-source email alias service, now a Proton product. One alias per site forwards to your real inbox without revealing it, and if a sign-up leaks you switch off just that address.

How do you use SimpleLogin?
- Open simplelogin.io with the VPN on, checking the domain in the address bar.
- Create the account using your private email (Proton Mail or Tuta) or an email from your crypto identity, never your personal one.
- Create one alias per service, naming each after the service rather than after you (for example, the exchange's name).
- Use the alias at sign-up: the site never sees your real email, and you can reply from the alias without exposing the destination inbox.
- Keep the alias list in your password manager and switch off any alias that leaks or starts receiving spam.
- Protect the destination inbox with a strong password and 2FA, since everything sent through the aliases lands there.
What are the limits and cautions?
- The alias protects the address, not the destination inbox: if someone breaks into the inbox the aliases forward to, they see everything that arrived through all of them. That inbox must be private and have 2FA.
- The free plan covers up to 10 aliases; unlimited aliases, custom domains and PGP are on the paid plan. Paying with a card tied to your name creates a link.
