KeePassXC: what it is and how to use it
KeePassXC is a free, open-source offline password manager whose database is an encrypted file that stays with you, with no cloud, account or subscription. For a crypto identity, many people prefer it for the isolation.

How do you use KeePassXC?
- Download KeePassXC from keepassxc.org, typing the address, for Windows, macOS or Linux.
- Create a new database and set a master password that is a long phrase of random words, unrelated to your life.
- Add each account with a long, random, unique password generated by the program itself.
- Back up the database file and carry copies to your devices, since there is no automatic sync.
- Write the master password on paper in a safe place and keep the file copies separate from it.
What are the limits and cautions?
- With no automatic sync, you need discipline with backups; losing the file without a backup means losing your passwords.
- The book lists it only for Windows, macOS and Linux (no phone), which makes it less convenient than Bitwarden day to day.
