How do you use Cake Wallet?
- Download only via the links on the official site cakewallet.com or the store, checking the developer name.
- Create a new wallet, write the seed by hand and confirm the backup in the app.
- Test recovery with a small amount before moving significant sums.
- Receive two small amounts from different origins and label each coin on receipt.
- When spending, use coin control to pick the coin manually and observe the change.
- For larger amounts, keep them on a hardware wallet; use the phone only for spending.
What are the limits and cautions?
- On WalletScrutiny it shows as "Not Reproducible" (Dec 2024): you cannot independently verify that the distributed app matches the open code. It does not prove a problem, but it is a point of attention.
- It has no CoinJoin. Silent Payments support is uneven across wallets; use small amounts until you feel comfortable.
